Product Information Nakshi Kantha is kinds of embroidery popular in Bangladesh. The rural villagers have been using this Kanthas in traditionally. It is very popular and uses in the winter time. The women stack worn, soft saris on each other and stitch them together into a new quilt/blanket. Our new fabric blankets are made by indigenous artisans in Manikgonj, Kushtia, Netrokuna and Gazipur. We also are producing recycled sari blankets for Baby. You can wash the blanket by hand in cool or light hot water. Each Kantha/blanket is unique in color and design, depending on the recycled saris available at the market. We accept your own choice and thought.

By securing markets for their works, the artisans, many whom are single, divorced or widowed are able to earn an income which is vital in their struggle to survive. There are hardly any women on the streets in rural Bangladesh. They spend most of their everyday lives in their homes. In this situation, the woman is economically dependent on a man and excluded from many areas of public life. The result is often a sense of inferiority. The principal vision is to help the rural poor, widowed, divorced, and helpless women by creating employment for them. SHOHOJOGITA was started to give women an opportunity for a better life. We collaborate with artisans and organizations helping women in difficult circumstances in Bangladesh, specially rural women ONLY. We help by marketing their products so they can afford to daily food, have medical care and provide an education to their children. These women have never had the chances we have had, yet they are just like us in so many ways.
